The Fifties

The nineteen fifties was a decade of hope, the war had been over for five years and more and more goods were appearing as rationing was ending. People no longer needed coupons to buy clothes which were becoming more stylish and better in quality, rainwear was no exception, it was now not only being made of rubber and rubberised cotton, but other materials such as satin, silk and taffeta were also being rubberised and the new materials of nylon and plastic were beginning to be used for rainwear, but they never really caught on until the second half of the decade.

MISS KAY

I was still at Westerlea when the decade began and it was about this time that I became aware of my sexuality and rubber played an important part in that. Miss Kay, the physiotherapist was an extremely good looking woman in her late twenties, she had short blonde hair and blue eyes and had as far as I remember, a great figure with a large bust. In late '49 she had shown me and the other chap I exercised with, a photograph of herself on a beach in France that summer. When I saw it my eyes nearly popped out of my head, she was wearing one of the new two piece swimming costumes called a bikini, she looked sensational, I had never seen so much flesh and I fell madly in love with her. After that I worshipped and adored her, she was a Goddess.

Miss Kay could be a cruel bitch as well, she made us do our excercises in the nude, claiming that this allowed her to see our movements. There was an excersise called Temple Fay, it was an excercise to teach coordination, but caused us all a great deal of pain. [I suppose it was a case of the modern adage, no pain, no gain]. To perform this excersise we had to lay on our stomach on a talcumed white rubber sheet and move our limbs as if we were swimming for anything thirty minutes, if we slacked Miss Kay would give us a sharp smack on the bottom. It was one morning while performing this excercise that something happened, I got a nice feeling in my penis which had gone hard. After a few more minutes of it rubbing against the rubber and the esquisite feeling getting even better a white fluid spurted out of my penis. I squealed out aloud, I don't know whether it was with fright or delight but Miss Kay came over, she saw what had happened and smiling said 'rubber knickers for you my lad'.

After the Christmas holidays Miss Kay told us about a large ball she was going to at the end of January and how she was going to dance the night away in the slinky evening dress she had treated herself to. We told her that see her in it. She told us that Miss Campbell, a good looking houseemother with an exquisite figure was also going to the ball, and if we were good and did our excercises properly she would pop up to our dormitory and let us see her dress before she and her beau took Miss Campbell to the ball.

I can still remember the night of that Ball, it was a wild, wet and windy one, the rain was battering against the dormitory leaded windows. It was about 7.15pm. and we were all in bed, in those days it was thought that plenty of rest was good for spastics, listening to the radio when the door opened and Miss Kay entered. She looked sensational dressed in a voluminous full length hooded rubberised satin cape which swished as she crossed the room, [I can still see her every time the Scottish Widows advertisment comes on television] she stopped at end of my bed and removed her cape with a flourish and dropped it on my bed. I immediately got out from out from under the bedclothes and lay on top of the cape. It felt wonderful soft and smooth and a surge of excitement shot through my trembling body and I got a terrific erection. I loved her so much, she was beautiful standing in the middle of that dormitory dressed in a low cut skintight black satin sheath evening dress and long black satin gloves. There were whoops of delight from the six of us as she piroetted around the room before coming back to pick up her cloak. I reluctantly got off it and as she slipped it back on giving me a knowing smile as she did so then went beginning with me gave each of us a kiss in turn telling us as she left to have sweet dreams. I had sweet dreams for a long time afterwards.

AUNT SAL

Once a fortnight on a Saturday afternoon Aunt Sal arrived at Westerlea to take me out, visiting weekends only every five or six weeks, but somehow she managed to get them powers that be to agree to the the extra visits providing that I was back by 6.15pm. I really looked forward to these visits as she would thoroughly spoil me. I remember on wet Saturday afternoon she arrived by taxi and when she stepped out of it I got quite excited. She was wearing a very tightly belted new pure rubber shiny black raincoat , a matching sou'wester and a pair of shiny wellingtons. I felt very proud of her that afternoon as we took the tramcar into Princess Street then went around several shops buying me more Dinky Toys to add to my already extensive collection. After High Tea in Jenners, the Harrods of Edinburgh, where every coatstand was overflowing with ladies rubber rainwear of every size and colour, a rainwear lovers paradise, we got a taxi back to the school and on the fifteen minute journey my hand rested on her rubber covered thigh. Over the next twelve months Aunt Sal often wore that coat and then I never saw it again or her until 1958, she emigrated to the U.S.A. and married a Polish Count who she had met during the war. I was heartbroken.

MOTHER

Mother had three raincoats during this decade. The first she bought about 1950. it was a swagger style rubberised red tartan one which she seemed to wear all the time, for some reason I never liked that coat very much.

In 1954 she bought one which was much more to my liking and I suppose that I was instrumental in her buying it. She had taken me into town to buy some clothes and after buying we passed through the ladies department on our way to the tearoom. It was a ritual, if we were in Copelands we always went for afternoon tea in the tearoom. In the ladies department I stopped and looked at several rubberised satin raincoats on mannequins on a display stand. Mum stopped as well and said she could do with a new raincoat at which point a saleslady came over and after speaking to Mum guided her over to the rails of rainwear and for the next twenty minutes she tried on several different rubberised satin raincoats and capes before deciding on two, a lovely deed blue rubberised slipper satin coat and a white rubberised slipper satin cape. Over the ensuing years these garments gave me a great deal of pleasure as Mum was at work I would often undress and put them on and enjow their wonderful feeling as I masturbated.

I think that at this point I'd better explain how I masturbate, I am, owing to the nature of my handicap, unable to masturbate in the normal manner, so what I do is lie face down and hold my penis and move my body as if I was having sexual intercourse.

RITA

Rita took it upon herself to look after me at senior secondary school, the then Scottish equivelent of the grammar school, when I left Westerlea and returned to Glasgow. For the next three years she bacame a surrogate mother to me during the day, she would take my notes, fasten my shoes and the buttons on my navy blue school uniform gaberdine uniform, she wore one ecactly the same, we all did. She also helped me to feed and generally looked after me, the only things that she didn't help me with was toileting and changing for P.E.. Rita by the age of thirteen was well developed physically and a great figure and was fancied by every boy in the class. The majority of us in our class were friends, we played together, went to the same youth club, our parents all new each other and we kids met at the tennis club and at the golf club with our parents and we all went to the local kirk. [Church of Scotland] which in the early meant you didn't go out to play on a Sunday. It was Boys Brigade Bible Class followed by Morning Worship, home for Dinner then Sunday School followed by a walk with your parents then home for the rest of the day, that was until you were 14. After 14 it was long trousers, in my case it was still a kilt on Sundays. Sundays were the same until after dinner then it was a walk with my pals followed by the Ministers Bible Class home, for tea then back to church for Evening Service and in the summer that was followed by another walk.

One wet Sunday morning in the spring of 1954 I was almost at the church when I spotted the back of a shapely female figure entering the church door wearing a tightly belted mauve rubberised satin with the hood up, a surge of excitement surge through my veins. On entering the church I saw that it was Rita who was wearing the wonderful garment, she looked far sexier than in her school gaberdine, smiled at me as I sat next to her. Throughout the service I would occasionally touch the smooth sensuous material and nothing was thought about it as she and others would think that I was having a spasm, in fact I remember her placing my hand on top of her raincoat covered thigh and held it firmly until she thought my spasm had bassed. This was one of the few occasions when my disability appeared to give me an advantage.

GIRLS

Laura

Laura was a tall lithesome girl a few years older than me who lived on the opposite side of the road a few doors along, she sang in the church choir and wore a deep red rubberised satin raincoat.

Helen

Helen lived in the adjoining house to ours and was the same age as Laura and worked in a bank wore a beautiful black rubberised slipper satin tightly belted raincoat.

Brenda

Brenda was again a few years older than myself and lived about 10 doors down from us, she was an extremely beautiful raven haired girl with an esquisite hour glass figure of the Jewish faith. She really was a stunner especially when she wore her silver rubberised satin raincoat very tightly belted.

Pat

Pat was a young lady of my own age who lived at the opposite end of the street from us, I was in love with her. I got to know her through travelling on the same train as her. Although she was the same age as myself and lived on the same street I didn't know her because she went to a fee paying school. She was a tall and slim with short blonde hair and I was crazy about her especially when she arrived at the station one day wearing a tightly belted emerald green rubberised satin raincoat. For several months on wet nights I used to hang about her gate in the hope that she would come out wearing her raincoat. Today I would have been termed a stalker.

Cathy

She was a bit of a plain Jane with a large bust, but an extremely nice girl who also travelled by train, she wore a tightly belted brown satin raincoat and shiny brown wellington boots.

Helen had also been in my class from the age of five, with the exception of the years I had been away in Edinburgh, my father from the age of twelve had teased my that she wanted to be my girlfriend, I hadn't wanted to know as I thought she was ugly. By the age of seventeen however the ugly duckling had turned into the beautiful swan and had won several beauty contests including Butlin's Holiday Princess at Ayr, Miss Bikini a Sabrina Lookalike run by a Scottish Sunday newspaper. Helen wore a lovely gold rubberised satin raincoat it was trimmed with black velvet at the collar and cuffs. She occasionally wore it belted but more often than not in a swagger style which allowed the light to reflect off it with every movement she made and it swished and rustled more when she wore it in this style than it did when she wore it belted.

Dorothy

Dorothy who did not live in the immediate district but lived about three miles away and attended our church was a tall good looking woman with a lovely figure wore a tightly belted lovely shiny bottle green rubberised slipper satin raincoat.

GIRLS IN RAINWEAR ON BUSES

During the fifties buses were great place to see ladies in rainwear and to sit in very close proximity to them and where you could actually touch their rainwear without being thought a wierdo or a dirty old man, young one, in my case. Buses were more crowded in those days as not many people had cars and it was becoming accepted that married women were going out to work. There were good times for a rainwear lover to travel on wet days, between 8.00 and 9.00am to the city, 1.00pm and 2.00pm from the city, part-timers were coming home, 4.00pm and 6.30pm shoppers and ladies in full time work comng home, and after 10pm, especially on Fridays and Saturday nights

Every Wednesday from 1954 onwards I went to see an aunt and uncle who lived in a well to do area about 10 miles south of the city. I would spend a pleasent with them watching televion, we didn't have a T.V. in those days. Uncle would drive me to the bus stop to catch the first bus of my two bus journey home, and just before the bus came he always gave me 5/- [25 pence]

This particular Wednesday was a wet horrible one and when I finished work at 5.30pm. I rushed across the town to the out of town bus station to catch the 5.42pm Ayr limited stop, this bus only stopped 3 times before my stop. I joined the already long queue and as we began to file on the bus an inspector in a black rubberised macintosh said Mearns passengers get on the duplicate standing behind the Ayr bus, I duly obliged and went to the upper deck, it was a low bridge bus which meant that the seats were four in a row on the left with the gangway a foot lower on the right. The bus was fairly full and there were no window seats left. Then I spotted her half way down sitting at the window wearing the most beautiful shocking pink rubberised slipper satin raincoat. I went and sat next to her and as I did I saw that she was wearing the belt very tight. She eased over and smiled at me, she really was lovely her long dark hair was in a Veronica Lake style and she had a large bust was accentuated by the taut rubberised satin and it shimmered with her every movement. Throughout the journey I could feel my excitement and my manhood rising. At the Broom, a well to do estate she excused herself and as she passed me I allowed my hand to trail across her rubberised satin covered bottom. I was in a state of high sexual excitement when I arrived at my uncles and after saying hello I went to the bathroom and after a few moments slipped into the cloakroom which was next door to the bathroom and took my aunts' black rubberised cotton cape off the peg, returned to the bathroom stripped off my clothes and put the cape on. I was in such a state of excitement that I came before I started masturbating.

Another wet evening I was sitting on the upper deck of a bus while travelling home from the cinema and it pulled up at a busy stop outside a chip shop, I looked down at the long queue to see if there was anyone I knew getting on, my excitement rose. There was a lady with an esquisite hourglass figure and lomg wavy hair wearing a tightly belted shimmering rubberised slipper satin raincoat, I couldn't tell under the street lighting what colour her raincoat or hair was. I sat watching her intently as she moved nearer to getting on praying that she would come upstairs and I would see her wonderful coat, she did and she came and sat beside me. She was a stunning redhead in her late twenties and her raincoat was a deep purple colour. She began talking to me and she knew my name, I didn't recognise her until she told me she was Rita, my Sunday School teacher when I had been in the Beginners.

Some months later on another wet evening I had been to the same cinema and as usual I got on the Route 34 to go home and went on upper deck to have cigarette [no I don't smoke now] and there was a dark haired woman wearing a deep crimson rubberised satin raincoat sitting half way along the right hand side with a man. I went and sat on the empty seat in front of them making sure as I had a good look at her as did so, I knew her, it was Jessie, a good looking woman in her mid-twenties whose mother lived a few doors along from us. Jessie had a stunning figure, a very large pointed bust and her trim trim waist was held in by the wide diamond shaped buckled belt which she had fastened very tightly. We chatted for the twenty minute journey and just before our stop she pulled the hood over her head and fastened it tightly with the drawstrings.

MARRIED LADIES IN RAINWEAR

I the area of Glasgow where I lived several good looking married woman all of whom wore a wonderful assortment of rubberised raimwear and I adored them all and on wet days when I was unemployed, and that was fairly often between the ages of 15 and 19, I used to walk the streets looking to see if I could see these lovely ladies.

Brenda Bruce

Brenda was a lovely looking mother of two young sons in her early thirties with very short black hair and a great figure and a very sexy husky voice who lived two doors down from us. On warm summer afternoon Brenda, who was a part-time model at The Glasgow School of Art two evenings a week , would sunbathe in her back garden wearing either a tiny pink or black satin bikini, I discovered years later that what I thought were two bikinis was in fact only one, it could be worn reversable. On wet days and evenings she wore a beautiful soft smooth silver rubberised satin swagger style raincoat. I used to love to follow her when she was wearing this fantastic garment as it shimmered and glinted with every step she took.

Joan Moore

Joan was a fairly large, but well proportioned, in fact statuesque, lady in her late thirties who wore a beautiful very tightly belted emerald green slipper satin raincoat which had a matching hood with a drawstring to fasten it. Joan didn't wear the hood as such but bunched the material at the bottom of it very tight and tied it with the drawstring and wore it like a tight cloche hat. Joan always looked very cold, superior and cruel in this raincoat and black wellington boots which unusually had as small heel and shaped tight to her legs.

Marie McKay

She was an attractive thirtysomething with a great figure and a teenage son who lived at the top end of our street and worked in the local chemists. She wore a green rubberised slipper satin rubberised satin raincoat almost identical to Joan Moores'.

Janis Blair

This lady was in her mid forties with a plumpish figure who lived opposite us and when it was wet wore a belted deep red rubberised silk hooded raincoat. Late one night when my mother was at her house it began to rain so she lent mother this coat telling her to get me to return it in the morning. Mum went to work next morrning and I decided to try it on and while playing with it I tore it. Mother bought her a new raincoat, not silk one but a pillar box red rubberised satin one, it was made by Kelvinette and was bought at Watt Brothers and cost 3.16.0., I know because I had to pay for it. My mum kept the torn rubberised silk one and had it invisibly mended and she wore it for several years.

Pat Howe

Pat was a beautiful young unmarried mother with an absolutely stunning figure and short black hair who took digs with a widower friend who l Continued
